This is the crucible where words and stories are made.

Below, you can find all upcoming projects by E J Doble, including sequels to current series and new projects on the near horizon. This page will be updated regularly with news about drafts, wordcounts, and the availability of e-ARCs.

PROJECT HOMELAND

PROJECT HOMELAND

This is the working title for Book 3 in The Blood and Steel Saga, taking place roughly two weeks after the events of The Horns of Grief. The book has undergone extensive planning - far more than any other book I’ve ever written - and current estimates put the page count between 900-1100 pages long. It looks to be the biggest and bloodiest of the series yet, and despite starting the book in January 2024, we will likely not see the finished project until the end of the following year.

“As of August 2025, Parts 1-3 have been fully written, and the entire novel is 64% complete. Part 4 - the largest in the novel - is being written, and will be finished by early September.”

PROJECT FACTORY

PROJECT FACTORY

This is something of a random pet-project that I devised as part of my job working in a factory, where an entire facility is run on a single A.I. operating system that… well you can probably guess what happens next. It is approximately ten chapters long (novella length) and will take the perspective of a young school dropout looking for some money to pay rent, and get away from his chronically-overbearing mother. As for a writing/release date, I have no idea - it will likely be something I write over the space of a few weeks as a palette cleanser to a much larger project. We’ll see!

“This novella is completely planned with chapter-specific notes, and will likely take between three to four weeks to complete (exact dates are currently undisclosed).”

PROJECT GINGERBREAD

PROJECT GINGERBREAD

This is the working title for the third book in the Grimdark Fairytales mini-series, which from the name ‘gingerbread’ one can assume which classic story is going to be tackled. Featuring a little old lady living on a house on a cliff-side, who befriends a tiny robin called Wilhelm, the book’s opening has a much lighter tone than its predecessors - but don’t let that deceive you. The novella will most likely sit at roughly 100 pages, and will hopefully release sometime in early summer 2026.

“This novella has been structurally outlined with no chapter-specific notes; the characters have been established, however, with their key motivations and traits. As with its two predecessors, this novella will likely take six weeks to write, and a few more to edit, releasing sometime in early summer 2026.”
